Healthy Oceans Tech and Finance Forum: Innovative Solutions for Asia and the Pacific

How can technology and finance protect our oceans, increase resilience, and accelerate the growth of sustainable blue economies?

The ADB Healthy Oceans Tech and Finance Forum aimed to promote and share innovative technologies, good practices, case studies, and practical solutions to protect and enhance the health and resilience of the ocean ecosystems and coastal communities in the region.

The three-day forum covered 4 thematic tracks: (1) Plastic-free Oceans, (2) Coastal Resilience, (3) Ocean Finance, and (4) Blue Foods. The program included talks by ocean champions, seaside chats, and deep-dive sessions that feature ocean science, innovation, and technologies along with traditional solutions and indigenous knowledge with potential for scale-up.

Spotlight sessions highlighted marine renewable energy, sustainable coastal and marine tourism, green ports and shipping, nitrogen management from source to sea, sustainable ocean planning, and more!

Objectives

The ADB Healthy Oceans Tech and Finance Forum aimed to:

Promote knowledge sharing on innovation, technology, and financing needs and solutions to protect and enhance ocean health
Identify how technology and innovation can accelerate the transition to and growth of sustainable blue economies; and
Facilitate partnerships to increase ocean investments in Asia and the Pacific.
