Online Workshop on Decarbonizing Sanitation for Sustainable Development

Greater flooding, droughts, and sea level rise due to climate change is increasingly affecting wastewater management and water availability. At the same time, sanitation practices such as wastewater treatment are a significant source of greenhouse gas (GHGs) emissions. These dynamics make greater sanitation development in Asia and the Pacific essential for advancing decarbonization and tackling climate change.

Satoshi Ikeda

Satoshi Ikeda has been the Chief Sustainable Finance Officer (CSFO) at the Financial Services Agency of Japan (JFSA) since 2019.

In this role, he covers a wide range of issues concerning sustainable finance which include, among other things, designing Japan’s own transition finance framework based upon disclosures of transition plans

Yuriko Koike

Yuriko Koike is a Japanese politician who currently serves as the Governor of Tokyo. She graduated from the American University in Cairo (B.A. in Sociology) as the top student in 1976 and was a member of the House of Representatives of Japan from 1993 until 2016 when she resigned to run in the Tokyo gubernatorial election. She also previously served as the Minister of Defense in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Shinzō Abe but resigned in August 2007 after only 54 days in office.

Yutaka Arai

Yutaka used to be the Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan. She joined it in April 1987. Some of the positions she held was detailed below:

Jason is the head of Sustainable Investment - Fixed Income & Senior Portfolio Manager at Nomura Asset Management. 

He has over 10 years of local expertise on fixed-income investment in EM and DM Asian Bonds, FX, Credit, Interest rate derivatives, and Volatility markets, and a comprehensive set of skills gained from roles in portfolio management, strategy, sales, and trading.

Prior to Nomura, he previously worked with First State Investments, JP Morgan, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch.
