ADBI-JARTS-IIT Learning Series on High-Speed Railway: Global Experiences on High-Speed Railway Safety Management

17 September 2021

Greater high-speed rail (HSR) development in Asia will require policy makers and industry partners to navigate complex planning, design, construction, operational, and maintenance issues, as well as increasingly challenging domestic socioeconomic and political conditions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This ADBI-Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS)-Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and Madras session is part of a learning series to examine key aspects of HSR construction and management. The session explored HSR safety management challenges and policy lessons. It highlighted Japanese HSR safety performance and the role of system-thinking-based safety management. It also highlighted other global HSR safety system development and implementation experiences.
