Aileen Dalanon

Aileen Dalanon leads the Core Business and Emerging Technologies Tariff Management Team which designs tariffs for MERALCO’s core business of electricity distribution. She monitors and advocates for policies that ensure stability and fairness of electricity tariffs, as MERALCO continues to support the technological advancements in the industry. In recent years, with the influx of new energy sources and technologies, she took on the role of monitoring business models and tariff policies on renewable energy and energy efficiency, smart grid technologies, microgrids, and energy storage.

Aanchal Kumar

Aanchal Kumar is an officer at Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and a Future Energy Leader at the World Energy Council. She has over 8 years of experience in the field of sustainability and energy efficiency. She has been a pivotal member in the implementation of the globally-lauded Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All program. She has also worked on research studies in the field of clean energy in collaboration with the World Resource Institute, UNFCCC, World Bank, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and AEEE.

Mukhtor Khamudkhanov

Mr. Mukhtor Khamudkhanov is a Director of Energy Division of Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Pacific Department and is responsible for coordination of ADB’s energy sector operations in the Pacific developing member countries. Prior to joining the Pacific Department in January 2021, he was a Country Director of ADB’s Nepal Resident Mission (2017-2021) where he demonstrated knowledge and experience in policy dialogue, strategic and country operations planning, and worked on significant infrastructure projects, including hydropower and renewable energy, in Nepal.

Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in Europe

Fuel cells and hydrogen (FCH) are part of and are making a great contribution to Europe’s energy transition. The region believes that FCH are key technologies for decarbonizing the energy system. The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking was established as a strong public-private partnership with a focused objective to accelerate the development of technology base towards market deployment of FCH technologies.

Thusitha Sugathapala

Dr. Thusitha Sugathapala is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering of the University of Moratuwa and a Chartered Engineer. He obtained the BSc Engineering Degree from University of Moratuwa and PhD from the University of Cambridge. He served as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Director General of Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority. Dr. Sugathapala’s research areas of interest cover both energy and environment fields, including renewable energy; energy efficiency; and environmental management.

Demand Side Management and the Prosumer: What, Who, and the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Implications

Improving the uptake of energy efficiency and demand side management policies and programs requires a better understanding of the human aspect of energy use, including behavioral and societal drivers and barriers, and external and internal contexts. Behavioral interventions using technology, market and business models, and changes to the supply and delivery of energy are the all-important means to that end.
