Aaron Dennis

Mr. Aaron Dennis is a Social Development Specialist with ADB's South Asia Energy Division. Prior to joining ADB, he worked with the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman for IFC and MIGA as well as with a private consultancy specializing in Indigenous Peoples development. As a practitioner, Aaron is interested in leveraging emerging technologies to foster inclusive and equitable project design, to promote transparency and accountability, and to enable results-oriented performance and service delivery for clients and communities.

Shotaro Sasaki

Dr. Shotaro Sasaki is the Senior Environment Specialist for ADB's Urban and Social Sectors Division in the East Asia Department. He joined ADB in 2005 and worked on energy projects in Central and West Asia such as Afghanistan, environment improvements in South Asia such as India, and in the private sector.

Pradeep Thike

Mr. Pradeep Thike is the Deputy Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority. He is an avid traveler, loving family man, and an advocate for environmental protection and social safeguards. Mr. Thike holds a master's degree in Water Resources Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli.

Nikolasi Fonua

Nikolasi Fonua is an electrical and electronics engineer and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business. He has worked for 10 years with the Electricity Utility in Tonga where he is acting CEO and prior to that, he headed the utility's Engineering Division. He has expertise in project management and strategic business development, with a strong business and engineering acumen. His passion is in developing the energy industry to be more sustainable, complemeted by appropriately skilled talents within the industry.

Aziz Raza

Engr. Aziz Raza Malik is a professional Engineer having more than 27 years of experience in the field of project management/development and in completion of infrastructural projects, mainly related to  hydropower, solar, road construction, tunnels and buildings . He played an integral role in leading a team for developing the Government and Private sector hydropower / solar projects in Pakistan.   

Building a Scalable and Sustainable Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) for Southeast Asia: Partnership Launch

The Asian Development Bank, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, launched a partnership to design and establish an Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) to accelerate the transition from coal to clean energy in Southeast Asia, in a just and affordable manner. ETM is an innovative model which would use blended finance to accelerate the retirement of coal power plants and develop green, renewable energy to replace it.

The event was held in Glasgow, Scotland as part of COP26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
