Provides intellectual input for policy makers in ADB’s developing member countries.

Is responsible for the direction of the general operations of ADB.

Develops and strengthens relations between ADB and its 17 European member countries. 

Independently and systematically evaluates ADB policies, strategies, operations, and special concerns that relate to organizational and operational effectiveness

Serves as the focal point for interaction between ADB and its constituencies in Japan. 

Acts as a liaison between ADB's Manila Headquarters and American policymakers and major stakeholders.

Provides administrative support to help management and staff enhance workplace effectiveness.

Is the designated focal point of contact for allegations of fraud or corruption pertaining to ADB-financed activities or staff members.

Acts as ADB's focal point for planning, promoting, and arranging cofinancing for ADB projects.

Manages ADB's automated information systems and telecommunications services.

Coordinates and supports ADB-wide public-private operations and provides transaction advisory services to developing member countries in Asia and the Pacific.

Responsible for policy, system, and operational risk; credit risk assessment; credit portfolio monitoring; corporate recovery; and market and treasury risk

Undertakes financial, administrative, and information systems audits and provides assistance to external auditors.

Provides support to ADB's independent Compliance Review Panel which, upon request by affected persons, investigates ADB's compliance with its operational policies and procedures in the formulation, processing, or implementation of an ADB-financed project.

Handles all legal aspects of operations and activities, including providing legal advice.

Provides ADB staff with a confidential, impartial, off-the-record, and independent setting to discuss and resolve work-related concerns and issues. 

Heads ADB’s management team comprising six Vice-Presidents and the Managing Director General.

Provides advice and counsel to ADB’s Board of Governors, Board of Directors, and Management.

Is responsible for actively responding to the concerns of people affected by ADB-assisted projects through fair, transparent, and consensus-based approaches.

Is responsible for the overall management of the operations of ADB’s Office of Risk Management, the Controller’s Department, and the Treasury Department.

Is responsible for management of ADB's Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department, and Department of External Relations.

Is responsible for operations in ADB’s South Asia Department and the Central and West Asia Department.

Is responsible for the full range of ADB's operations in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific.

Oversees ADB's assistance to private sector projects with a clear development impact but limited access to capital.

Provides ADB with a strategic planning perspective and direction, ensures policy and operations coordination, and maintains institutional relations with the international development community, especially on matters relating to resource mobilization.

Provides leadership, innovations, and knowledge sharing for ADB’s sector and thematic work.

Is responsible for mobilizing funds for operations and planning, as well as managing ADB's finances.


Conducts expert and peer reviews of project design and engages with IFAD, CGIAR, FAO, UNEP, USDA, and other agencies  in research, peer reviews, workshops, and other activities to address Asia’s food security concerns and rural poverty.

Provides technical support bank-wide to increase ADB investments in climate change adaptation, mitigation, and disaster risk reduction, covering—among others—climate change impact assessment of critical infrastructure, disaster risk financing in DMCs, urban resilience, and climate smart agriculture operations.

Integrates environmental sustainability into projects, country strategies, and sectors assessments; promotes eco-friendly design of infrastructure and scaling up of investments in natural capital, and ecosystem-based climate adaptation, supports initiatives to strengthen environmental management in DMCs and promote green businesses and address regional environmental concerns.

Offers courses on environmental sustainability, focusing on promoting sustainable infrastructure, investing in natural capital, strengthening environmental governance and management capacity, and responding to climate change.

Promotes and advocates increased attention to gender issues in ADB projects and forges links with development partners on gender-related issues to accelerate the integration of gender equity and women’s empowerment in ADB operations.
