ADB Data Room: Healthy Oceans and Coastal Resilience
Oceans and coastal adaptation are core ADB business. Thirty of ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs) border the ocean, a sea, or a major river that drains into the ocean. ADB launched the Action Plan for Healthy Oceans and Sustainable Blue Economies (hereafter known as the “Healthy Oceans Action Plan”) with a commitment to scale up ADB’s investments and technical assistance (including co-financing) to $5 billion between 2019 and 2024. ADB has committed to ensuring at least 75% of the total number of its operations support climate action and in 2021 announced an ambition of providing $100 billion cumulative climate finance from its resources between 2019 and 2030, with $34 billion for climate adaptation and resilience.
