Kenzhekhan Abuov

Kenzhekhan Abuov is a Senior Project Officer working on a special assignment in the Regional Cooperation and Integration Unit of the Central and West Asia Department (CWRD) of the Asian Development Bank. He is responsible for Climate Change Vision and cross-sectoral assessments, as well as for the energy and tourism sectors in CWRD. In this presentation, Mr. Rai introduced the concept of impact investing, and how it institutionalized microfinance. He also highlighted problems in the waste and agriculture sectors and sample solutions brought about by impact investment. He also emphasized the potential role of Impact Investing in re-imagining renewable energy solutions such as solar and biofuels, and what multilateral institutions such as ADB can do to support this approach.

Sherzad Ali Khan

Sherzad Ali Khan is working as Coordinator of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) for Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral (GBC). He is responsible to ensure coordination amongst AKDN agencies in Pakistan for integrated community-driven development programs with multiple themes including renewable energy, agriculture, employment generation, physical productive infrastructure, and communication. He also manages GBC strategy with a large component of energy development by encouraging community-based micro and mini hydro projects with AKDN own resources and donor funds.

Olatunji Yusuf

Olatunji is a Senior Climate Change Specialist within the Global Practices Directorate of the Islamic Development Bank. He is responsible for mainstreaming climate change in the Bank’s funded operations and portfolio and helping member countries attain low carbon and climate resilient development pathways as well as transition to the green economy.

Cecile Dahome

Cécile has been working and consulting in the field of business and project development, start-up acceleration and access to financing in the sectors of clean energy, adaptation and mitigation, WASH and agriculture for more than 12 years and is no stranger to Cambodia and the region. She recently served as PFAN coordinator in Cambodia, where she worked to bring investment into clean energy projects and served as a mentor to several companies working with PFAN to review their business plans and strategy and help them reach financial closure.

Amit Jain

Amit is a solar engineer, with a Ph.D. in solar energy and Fulbright Scholarship from NREL, USA and Chevening Fellow at King’s College, London. He loves to shares real-life stories on how solar energy is transforming people’s lives across health, transport, water, and agriculture sector.

He works with the World Bank and is leading a $2 billion renewables portfolio in India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives. He is leading the world’s largest energy access program in Bangladesh and solar program in India.
