Nadia J Seth

Nadia J. Seth is the General Manager of Policy and Planning Division of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA). Highly motivated, results driven research & policy analyst with over 19 years of development experience. A graduate of Kinnaird College, Lahore, Nadia obtained her Master’s degree in Economics from GC University, Lahore, Pakistan. Later to further her academic goals she obtained a degree in Development Management with honors from the University of Turin, Italy in 2010.

SERD Policy Talk (SPOT): Building Dynamic SMEs

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have generally lagged behind, being less productive and profitable than bigger companies. Now, SMEs face the added challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic and technology disruptions. But the crisis may offer an opportunity for SMEs to enter new areas and disrupt existing business models. For example, there are lot of potential in remote working, fintech, education and health. SMEs may be better at spotting these opportunities and taking advantage of them.

Financing Agripreneurs and Rural Small and Medium-size Enterprise

Discussion in this session focuses on innovative financing mechanisms, including emerging ICT platforms and fintech, to extend credit and banking services to small and dispersed borrowers, i.e., agripreneurs and SMEs for farm and nonfarm operations in rural areas. The panelists explore how they see the future and what is required from the public sector in terms of enabling policies and creating a level playing field to foster and expand pro-farmer smart financing options and opportunities.

Seow Hui Lim

Lim Seow Hui is currently the Director of Startup Development Division in Enterprise Singapore. Prior to that, she spent 5 years heading a team in the Corporate Planning Unit of then-SPRING where she helped develop the organization’s strategic map and KPIs with Balanced Scorecard and also represented Singapore at international fora on SME-related policies development such as ASEAN and APEC SME Working Groups. She was also involved in supporting SMEs’ growth in the Printing and Electronics Sector when she joined then-SPRING in 2008.

Anshuman Lath

Anshuman Lath is a Co-Founder and Director of Gram Oorja Solutions Private Limited. Gram Oorja provides sustainable and community-driven energy solutions in remote regions to fulfill electricity, cooking fuel and water needs. The company has implemented over 250 projects including solar micro-grids, solar pumps and biogas cooking solutions for tribal communities. A key feature of their work has been the sustainability of these projects, with local communities taking over the management, tariff collection duties and ownership of these projects.
