Siow Li Lai

Dr. Lai Siow Li's research interests lie in the field of fertility trends and differentials in three ASEAN countries, namely Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines. She obtained her doctoral degree from the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya. She also graduated from University of Malaya with an MA degree in Applied Statistics in 2011 and a BA degree in Economics in 2009.

Nana Oishi

Nana Oishi is Associate Professor in Japanese Studies at the University of Melbourne. Prveviously, she was Professor of Sociology at Sophia University in Tokyo and Policy Analyst at the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Harvard University and a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Toronto.

Cities in Asia increasingly face the triple challenges of rapid urbanization, aging population, and climate change. Smart urban development is an imperative given the challenges.
