Mr Mettetal is the Chairman of the Investment Committee of Diligent Capital Partners, a Private Equity Fund also based in Ukraine. He is also a member of the supervisory board of Nibulon and of Astarta, two leading agribusiness companies in Ukraine. In addition he is a senior agribusiness advisor the Asian Development Banks and he has been advising the African Development Bank and  as well as for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

Fabio Massimo Pallottini

Born in Rome on August 28, 1959. Graduated in Jurisprudence with economic address at the University La Sapienza of Rome.

Economist, expert in economic and territorial problems development, he has developed a consistent administrative and managerial experience.

Since 2014 he is the Managing Director of CAR Scpa, the company that built, owns and manages the Centro Agroalimentare Roma, the first Italian structure in the sector. In this capacity he is responsible for the management of the structure and ensures its productive and economic results.

Kazushi Takahashi

Kazushi Takahashi is a Japanese development economist. He is a Professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), and is a director of the Global Governance (G-cube) Program at GRIPS, Japan. Before joining GRIPS, he was an Associate Professor and Professor at Sophia University from 2015 to 2019, a visiting research fellow at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management of Cornell University from 2010 to 2012, and a research fellow at the Institute of Developing Economies-Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO) from 2006 to 2015.

Joy Amor Bailey is an Urban Climate Change Resilience Specialist with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) - administered Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund (UCCRTF) which supports cities in eight countries by improving urban planning, designing climate-resilient infrastructure, and investing in projects and people.

Maria Cecilia Sicangco

Maria Cecilia T. Sicangco is a Climate Change Law and Policy Specialist/Knowledge Management Specialist (Consultant) under the Law and Policy Reform Program of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Her work includes environmental law, climate change law and policy, women’s legal literacy and access to justice in Islamic countries, gender sensitization, and energy and water sector regulation in Southeast Asia and small-island developing states in the Pacific.

Innovative and Inclusive Microfinance for Renewable Energy by Greenlight Planet

Apart from the lack of access to the electrical grid, rural communities in the Philippines pay much more for electricity than almost anywhere in Southeast Asia. While other options are available, rural communities have less access to solar-powered solutions because of distribution, financing, and maintenance gaps. Greenlight Planet and ASHI’s collaboration provides a success story for how green lending by microfinance institutions can help their clients improve their quality of life through energy access.

Scene Setting: Reimagining a Sustainable World Through the Lens of Impact Investing

In this presentation, Mr. Rai introduced the concept of impact investing, and how it institutionalized microfinance. He also highlighted problems in the waste and agriculture sectors and sample solutions brought about by impact investment. He also emphasized the potential role of Impact Investing in re-imagining renewable energy solutions such as solar and biofuels, and what multilateral institutions such as ADB can do to support this approach.

Assessing the Impact of Renewable Energy Based Microgrids on Local Development and the SDGs: Insights from the Philippines

The Cobrador Island Solar – Diesel Hybrid Project is one of ADB’s outstanding projects and led to increased service hours (24 hours per day), affordability (50% tariff reduction), and environmental soundness (RE share up to 90%). This presentation analyzed the impact on local development and the SDGs through a household questionnaire focusing on socio-economic characteristics, electricity usage patterns, and subjective perceptions of change after hybridization.
