Hiroshi Takami

Hiroshi Takami joined the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) as Director of Administration, Management, and Coordination in July 2021.

Before joining ADBI, he worked at the Ministry of Finance (MOF) of Japan in various capacities, most recently as Executive Vice President of the MOF Policy Research Institute. Prior to that, he worked as Deputy Director General and Director of the Coordination Division of the MOF Customs and Tariff Bureau, and as Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Beijing, People’s Republic of China.

John Beirne

John Beirne is Vice-Chair of Research and a Senior Research Fellow at the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI). In this role, he co-heads ADBI’s Research Department, leading research workstreams on macroeconomics, finance, and infrastructure. He was previously a research fellow at the ADBI and before that, he spent over a decade in Germany as an economist at the European Central Bank (ECB), mainly in the areas of international policy analysis and economic research on global financial markets, capital flows, and commodities.

Takatoshi Ito

Takatoshi Ito is an internationally renowned economist and expert on international finance, macroeconomics, and the Japanese economy. He served as a member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy from 2006 to 2008. He also held senior positions in the Japanese Ministry of Finance and at the International Monetary Fund.  Ito also served as Dean of the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Public Policy for the past two years and as a professor at Japan’s National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies.
