[VIDEO] Gender-Based Violence & Environmental Action: Understanding Links, Taking Action—IUCN/TNC

The climate crisis is not gender neutral. Climate change impacts—such as prolonged drought, sea level rise, natural resource degradation, and cyclones—are exacerbating conditions that drive gender-based violence (GBV), which predominantly affects women and girls. Nearly 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Learn more about the links between GBV and the environment and hear directly from experts on how we can minimize and mitigate risk in this session hosted by IUCN and The Nature Conservancy.

[VIDEO] Women on the Move: Transforming Transport in Asia—GIZ

Transport is largely still seen as a field for men, with only ~20% of the workforce being women despite knowledge that women make up half of the population and have different travel patterns and considerations. This underrepresentation inevitably leads to gaps in how mobility services are delivered – an issue we would like to tackle by ensuring that gender is mainstreamed in our work.

[VIDEO] A Safe Place to Go: Designing Female-Friendly Public and Community Toilets—WaterAid

Poor access to sanitation disproportionately affects women and girls. But it's not just a question of lacking a household toilet – low availability of public and community toilets is also an issue. And where they do exist, these facilities often don't meet the needs of women and girls, undermining their rights. A lack of suitable toilets in public places and institutions can even further constrain their personal freedom and mobility, access to employment, health and education, and involvement in political and recreational activities.
