Learning Video 3: How can resilience of the urban poor be strengthened at the household level?

The urban poor in Asia and the Pacific are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. This learning video series provides an overview of what stakeholders from across three different levels – household, community, and city – can do to strengthen the resilience of the urban poor and vulnerable communities. Pro-poor solutions across six policy areas (social protection, public health, livelihood, housing, community infrastructure, and urban planning) need to be put into place and/or strengthened, with the urban poor involved as active partners throughout the process.

Halim Lee

Halim is a Senior Research Assistant at United Nations University - Flores (UNU-FLORES), currently working on the sustainability of transformation processes in post-coal mining regions. Prior to joining UNU-FLORES, she worked as a researcher at the Environmental GIS/RS Laboratory in Korea University, where she researched climate change and global/regional environmental issues and collaborated in projects involving the food-water-ecosystem nexus in Central Asia. She worked at Lockton Companies Inc.

Christine Emboltorio

Christine Emboltorio is currently the Head of Strategic Asset Planning Department of Manila Water Company Inc. and leads the development of the water and wastewater masterplan of the Company’s Manila East Zone Concession. She has been with Manila Water for almost 20 years and has worked across the different units of the Company – Business Operations, Water Network Planning, New Business Development, and Project Management.
