Bridging Gaps for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health: Leveraging Technology Innovations for Impact
Under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) led regional knowledge and support technical assistance (KSTA) project “Strengthening Integrated Primary Health Care Management of Noncommunicable Diseases”, ADB, in coordination with PATH, conducted a 3-day conference at ADB Manila, which focused on the role of technological innovations to revolutionize the healthcare landscape and accelerate the journey towards achieving the target of Universal Health Coverage (Sustainable Development Goal, Target 3.8).
The conference aimed to increase knowledge of best practices, stimulate the capacity of policymakers on implementation strategies, and improve the uptake of innovative technologies for primary healthcare management of NCDs and mental health. The in-person conference featured (i) plenary sessions around technological transformations, (ii) innovative regulatory and financial models, (iii) felicitating the winners of the innovations challenge, and (iv) discussing future initiatives and collaborations.
About 100 participants joined, consisting of a range of government nominations, academia, private firms, the ADB Human and Social Development Team (health and social development), the Economic Research Development Impact, and the ADB Private Sector Operations team.
