Lainie Thomas

Ms. Thomas leads the implementation of ADB’s fragile and conflict-affected situations and small island developing states approach, which institutionalizes differentiated strategies to improve the performance of ADB’s operations in these contexts.

Prior to this, Ms. Thomas oversaw ADB's work on civil society engagement from its NGO and Civil Society Center. She designed and implemented a series of reforms including how ADB tracks and measures civil society engagement, and she boosted civil society participation in ADB operations.

Sri Wening Handayani

 

Sri Wening is the focal point for social analysis for ADB’s projects. She provides awareness and training on social analysis, promotes knowledge on social dimensions, facilitates sharing of information on social dimensions and social protection, and supports external relations and coordination with development partners on social development, social protection, and labor issues. Prior to joining ADB, Ms. Handayani was a consultant practitioner in social development.

Enabling Inclusive Cities

Apart from the program overview, this presentation discusses aspects that matter to inclusive urban development. It also shares information on ADB’s experiences with inclusive urban development, urban renewal, and slum rehabilitation. Lastly, it discusses the enabling environment for incorporating an inclusive city approach in the operations of Asian Development Bank.

James Lang

James Lang is the Senior Specialist on Gender-based Violence for the Gender Equality Division at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) where he provides leadership for preventing gender-based violence across ADB operations and knowledge work. James has over 25 years of experience promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based violence through policy and programming with international organizations and the UN System, primarily in Asia and the Pacific.

Yukiko Ito

Yukiko Ito promotes the implementation of ADB's social development agenda through her work on community-driven development, social protection, inclusive business, sustainable livelihood, social analysis, and graduation approach for the poor and the vulnerable. She is the co-team leader of Philippine Expanded Social Assistance Project, Philippine Social Protection Support Project AF-II and the Regional Technical Assistance project for Advancing Inclusive and Resilient Urban Development Targeted at the Urban Poor.
