Malavika Bambawale

Malavika leads Engie Impact’s work out of APAC, based out of Singapore. Malavika is a well regarded sustainability professional with over 20 years of experience, including projects in clean energy, smart cities, climate change, and sustainable agriculture. She has worked with the private sector, governments, and the development sector, both in the West (UK, Europe, and US) and in Asia (Southeast Asia, India).

Realizing Smart Cities

This presentation discussed the strategies for realizing the Smart Cities, based on the initiative being undertaken ASEAN Smart City Network (ASCN). It focused on the proven strategies of converting a city into a smart city and reviewed what has been done in the major ASEAN cities regarding the energy revolution - energy access, energy resilience; how they conceptualize smart city –depending on the level of development, willingness to adapt and reform.

Gordon Falconer

Gordon is currently the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the UN United Smart Cities program and is a city developer, city consultant, global thought leader in cities, technology clusters, property& infrastructure developer, chartered surveyor who has been based in Singapore for the last 10 years. He has previously been Head of Masdar City Strategy in Abu Dhabi and Director of Cisco Urban Innovation. He has worked worldwide with governments, NGO’s, the UN, World Bank, and the European Commission.

Elena Marselis

Elena Marselis brings over 10 years of experience in Europe and the Middle East, of which the past 7 with Philips and Signify, having worked in various roles across IT, Marketing, Business Development, and Operations. Her experience with ESCO business models goes back to 2013 when she started working with key government and private entities in the UAE on the first Energy Performance Contracts in the region. Ms.

Cities drive economic growth, but rapid urbanization is threatening the quality of life and degrading environmental systems.
