Progress of Implementation of the SDGs in the Asia-Pacific Region

This presentation gives an an overview of the Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report 2019, published by UNESCAP. It provides the key messages from the report, a snapshot of regional and sub-regional progress in relation to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) 12, 14, and 15, as well as current challenges to implementing the environmental SDGs.

Suzanna Sumkhuu

Suzanna Sumkhuu is the Senior Development Policy and Planning Specialist at the National Development Agency of Mongolia. Her primary working areas include developing integrated long and medium-term national development policies, ensuring policy coherence and stability by providing methodological analysis and inputs to the government, and coordinating the localization/mainstreaming of the Sustainable Development Goals in Mongolia. She is the technical focal point for the preparation of Mongolia’s Voluntary National Review 2019.

Batzorigt Yunden

Batzorigt Yunden is Statistician of National Account and Statistical Research Department of National Statistics Office of Mongolia. His responsibilities are to compile sub-accounts of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting, namely material flow account, environmental protection expenditure account and energy physical supply and use table and net export side in expenditure approach of GDP. 

David Warburton

Professor David Warburton is an esteemed physician and researcher who directs the Developmental Biology, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapeutics program and the Center for Environmental Impact on Global Health Across the Lifespan at the Saban Research Institute, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Damdin Dagvadorj

Damdin Dagvadorj is the founder and Managing Director of the Climate Change Development Academy, a non-profit and independent research and consultancy organization. Damdin's background is in meteorology and computer programming, and is experienced in the field of environmental issues, Ecosystem modelling and climate change. He worked for Mongolia's Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in different senior positions.
