Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Mr. Sayed-Khaiyum is the Fijian Attorney-General and the Minister for Economy, Public Enterprises, Civil Service, and Communications, and the minister responsible for climate change. He is the second-ranking elected official in the country. Mr. Sayed-Khaiyum oversaw the creation of a climate change unit in the Office of the Attorney-General to examine legal matters pertaining to climate change that are often omitted from public discussions, such as how to protect the human rights of people who are displaced by the effects of climate change.

Annemieke Nijhof

Nijhof has extensive experience in the worlds of both government and business. As the Director-General of Water at the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (now Infrastructure and Water Management), she was responsible for water policy in the Netherlands. She then turned her hand to a business career as the CEO of consultancy and engineering firm Tauw. Presently, she is figurehead Top Sector Water & Maritiem and chair of the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP).

Barry Hankin

Dr. Barry Hankin is JBA’s Head of Environmental Modelling specializing in integrated modelling across urban-green and NBS.  He is an award-winning expert in modelling NBS, and a widely published co-investigator on the Natural Environment Research Council (UK) NBS research program.  Using his unique combination of skills in whole-system modelling and integrated risk analysis, he has evaluated the resilience of measures to enhance natural capital across urban and rural areas at local and national scales.

Bangladesh Climate and Disaster Risk Atlas - Publication Launch

Due to its geographic location and climatic conditions, Bangladesh is one of the countries to be severely affected by climate change, projected to significantly impact the country’s agriculture and water sectors. Climate change adversely affects a country’s ability to achieve its Sustainable Development Goal targets. As such, sustainable solutions and project development for mitigation and adaptation become more and more urgent. To enable these, a high-level risk screening approach to address climate and geophysical hazards at the early stage of project development is necessary.
