Transforming Agriculture in Asia: Asian Development Outlook 2021 Update

On 6 October 2021, ADB's North American Representative Office co-hosted a webinar on the ADO Update 2021 “Transforming Agriculture in Asia” theme chapter with University of Waterloo School of Environment, Enterprise and Development and the V2V Global Partnership. Takashi Yamano, Principal Economist in the Economic Analysis and Operational Support Division of the ADB’s Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department, presented on challenges facing agriculture in Asia; innovations to boost productivity support and sustainability; and support systems needed for Asia’s farmers. The following discussion on inequality, gender, and sustainability issues in agriculture featured Bruce Frayne, Jennifer Clapp, and Andrea Collins of University of Waterloo and Zhenzhong Si from Wilfrid Laurier University.
