First Women in Energy Summit Central and West Asia Equal by 2030 -Time for Change

ADB’s Women in Energy Program for Central and West Asia is the first targeted initiative to advance women in the energy sector in the region. The goal is to make the principles of EQUAL by 2030 the modus operandi in the region’s energy industry, making equal opportunity, equal pay, and equal leadership the new standard by 2030.

Gender Month 2022: Women Leading Towards An Equal, Greener and More Resilient Future

Empowering women to participate fully in economic and social life is essential to building strong economies, establishing stable and just societies, and improving the quality of life for men, women, and our communities.

Under ADB’s Strategy 2030, gender equality is one of seven operational priorities. By 2030, 75% of committed projects and programs will promote gender equality.

Avni Kumar

Avni Kumar specialises in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), with a cross-cutting focus on gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) and climate resilience in WASH. She has a background in development economics and has worked in various capacities with government, civil society, private sector and multilateral organisations. Avni has been a part of several projects related to women in the WASH workforce as well as promoting equality and inclusion in WASH programs.
