Nasheeba Selim

Ms. Nasheeba Selim is currently working as the Social Development and Gender Specialist in the Bangladesh Resident Mission, ADB. In the past, she has worked with UNDP Bangladesh and been directly involved in the administration of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Facility where she worked closely with disadvantaged ethnic minorities groups. Her areas of specialization include gender relations and equality, women's empowerment, mainstreaming gender in sectoral programs, violence against women, sex work and human rights, early marriage and feminization of poverty.

Gender and Social Inclusion Energy Linkages: Policies, Strategies, and Practices

Initiatives undertaken by ADB's South Asia Department to mainstream gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) in energy programs and projects resulted in a framework as discussed in this presentation. The benefits and opportunities of integrating a GESI perspective in the development of smart grids and renewable energy systems are highlighted.

Helen Clark

Helen Clark was Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme from April 2009 to April 2017, and was the first woman to lead the organization. She served at the same time as Chair of the United Nations Development Group, a committee consisting of all UN funds, programs, agencies, and departments working on development issues. As Administrator, she led UNDP to be ranked the most transparent global development organization.
