Creating Clean Energy Entrepreneurs through Affordable Financing

Transportation is an essential part of economic growth. But petroleum-fueled vehicles have created serious health problems for citizens in all major Indian cities and many poor people struggle to afford to purchase a vehicle. To address these challenges, SVCL, having a presence in central India, initiated financing E-Rickshaws in FY2016-17. Under this program, low-income group families were targeted who didn’t have enough capital to buy normal auto-rickshaws and were provided credit facilities to purchase E-Rickshaw so that their income generation capacity could go up.

Clotilde Rossi di Schio di Schio

Clotilde Rossi di Schio is part of SEforALL policy team, where she works as Specialist in the Cooling for All and Energy and Transport initiatives. Prior to joining SEforALL, Clotilde has been working in the energy field for the private sector, part of McKinsey’s German office and Mitsubishi Heavy Industry’s Turboden spa. Until recently, she has been collaborating as Research Assistant with the SIPA Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, where she researched space heating and cooling electrification.

Atsushi Najima

Atsushi Najima is the president and managing director of Nissan Philippines, one of the fastest growing automotive brands in the country. Prior to his present role, he joined Nissan as deputy general manager of Nissan’s regional financial management group in Japan. Atsushi currently develops business strategies to maximize and maintain Nissan’s outstanding performance in the country.

Amit is a solar engineer, with a Ph.D. in solar energy and Fulbright Scholarship from NREL, USA and Chevening Fellow at King’s College, London. He loves to shares real-life stories on how solar energy is transforming people’s lives across health, transport, water, and agriculture sector.

He works with the World Bank and is leading a $2 billion renewables portfolio in India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives. He is leading the world’s largest energy access program in Bangladesh and solar program in India.

In this presentation, Mr. Dorfner shares Getzner's solutions to vibrations and structure-borne noise generated by railways, which have a detrimental effect on track superstructure components such as rails, sleepers, and ballasts. He also underscores the importance of introducing more elasticity into the railway superstructure to reduce maintenance outlay and life cycle costs.
