Road Safety in Cambodia

Ensuring rural road safety is one of the responsibilities of the Social and Environment Office (SEO) of Cambodia’s Ministry of Rural Development. This presentation provides a brief background of SEO. It also explains SEO’s involvement in rural road safety and how it undertakes capacity improvement to achieve sustainability.

Smart Grid Methodologies and Models to Address Affordability, Sustainability, and System Reliability and Resilience

What are the tools necessary to develop pathways to facilitate an orderly transition from the old grid to smarter grids and low-carbon systems? How can models be designed to address affordability, sustainability, and system reliability? System resilience to extreme weather conditions is also an emerging and important consideration in addressing reliability. This session looks at various modelling methodologies that address these considerations.

Pierluigi Mancarella

Pierluigi Mancarella is Chair Professor of Electrical Power Systems at The University of Melbourne, Australia, and part-time Professor of Smart Energy Systems at The University of Manchester, UK. He received the MSc and PhD degrees in electrical energy systems from the Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, and worked as a post-doc at Imperial College London, UK. Pierluigi has held several visiting research positions, including at the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and professorships at Ecole Centrale de Lille, France, and Universidad de Chile, Santiago, Chile.

The Development Effectiveness Review 2016 is the culminating report that reflects on the last four years of achievements under ADB's current results framework, and progress towards the interim targets of Strategy 2020 and its Midterm Review.
