Citizen Voice and Action

Citizen Voice and Action, a program of World Vision International, builds the capacity of citizens to hold governments accountable for the promises they make. It involves educating citizens about their rights, providing opportunities for government and citizens to collaboratively assess government commitments against current realities, and working together with other stakeholders to pressure government decision-makers to improve service delivery in key identified areas.

UNDP Resources on Transparency and Accountability for Sustainable Development

Public services are at the heart of people’s lives. Conducting risk assessments is the key to identifying governance bottlenecks and corresponding mitigation measures to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing public services. The involvement of people and local communities in the design, delivery, and monitoring of public services does not only bring several benefits but also increases the reach and quality of the services being delivered.

Using a simple set of advocacy tools, CVA enables citizen engagement through community gatherings to improve services and influence policies of the government.

Partnering for Social Accountability

Around 60% of the world's youth population reside in the Asia and Pacific region, and this translates to more than 750 million young men and women with much potential. Unfortunately, they often do not have the opportunity to shape the cities they live in. This presentation by World Vision International tackles this concern by providing an overview of social accountability. It also highlights World Vision International's own approach called Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) that aims to facilitate dialogue between communities and government.
