Aloysius Damar

Mr. Aloysius Damar Pranadi is a Research Analyst under the Policy, Research, and Analytics Programme at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). He graduated from the Engineering Physics Department of the Universitas Gadjah Mada, and is pursuing his master’s degree at Energy and Power Management at Universitas Indonesia. He was involved in the ASEAN Interconnection Master Plan Study, ASEAN Multilateral Power Trade, ASEAN Power Cooperation, ASEAN power database, etc. His interests are power economics and renewable energy (solar and geothermal).

Aileen Dalanon

Aileen Dalanon leads the Core Business and Emerging Technologies Tariff Management Team which designs tariffs for MERALCO’s core business of electricity distribution. She monitors and advocates for policies that ensure stability and fairness of electricity tariffs, as MERALCO continues to support the technological advancements in the industry. In recent years, with the influx of new energy sources and technologies, she took on the role of monitoring business models and tariff policies on renewable energy and energy efficiency, smart grid technologies, microgrids, and energy storage.

Renewable Energy Disputes

Mr. William B. Panlilio, associate at King & Spalding, zeroed in on renewable energy. He stressed that renewable energy will become an increasingly important component of the energy mix of many countries around the world, especially in Asia and the Pacific where vast renewable energy potential can be found. With the rise of renewable energy, people will witness more disputes in this sector for two main reasons. First, renewable energy is a state interest. It can be governed by international treaties; and states increasingly consider it a crucial part of their energy policy.

Nazmun Nahar

Nazmun Nahar is an Energy Specialist in ADB’s South Asia Regional Department. She manages a portfolio comprising projects dealing with energy access, sustainability, climate resilient, and transition to a low-carbon future. Nazmun focuses on processing and administering energy and power sector projects in Bangladesh. Apart from processing investment projects, she provides procurement oversight to the executing and implementing agency, conducts project reviews, and ensures compliance with ADB’s Energy Policy and Procurement Regulations.
