Fumio Kurosaki

Dr. Kurosaki has rich experiences in the railway sector almost 30 years in total. In 1988 he joined East Japan Railway Company (JR East). After working as a civil engineer in JR East, he was dispatched to the International Union of Railways (UIC) from 2003 to 2006. At that time, he had started research activities about the organizational reform in the railway sector and completed his thesis titled “An Analysis of Vertical Separation of Railways.” 

Improving Rail and Freight Transport Efficiency: Insights from the 10th International Freight Conference

This presentation was delivered by Takeshi Fukayama and Jeff Procak in a knowledge-sharing event at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Headquarters. It discusses the Organization for Cooperation of Railways, including its profile and history, and the highlights from the 10th International Freight Conference. The presentation also lists the observations and insights of the two ADB specialists, as well as their perspectives on the implications of the plans discussed at the event on ADB railway and regional cooperation strategies.

Improving Rail and Freight Transport Efficiency

The 10th International Freight Conference organized by the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD) was held in Seoul, South Korea on 28 May 2015. The conference covered various topics, including development and improvement of international rail transport between Asia and Europe and specific corridors such as the Trans-Siberian railway, China-Europe freight rail connection, and Trans-Korean Peninsula railways.
