Profile / Bio: 

Sharad has over 25 years of professional experience in railways and international development. He started his career with the government in the prestigious Indian Railway Service.

He joined ADB in 2008 and has worked in Sustainable Development, East Asia, and South Asia departments, overseeing projects in Vietnam, Laos, People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, and India. He leads the design and implementation teams related to transport infrastructure and policy development. He has worked extensively on projects related to railway infrastructure, rolling stock, logistics, and urban transport. Sharad also assisted in the formulation and implementation of ADB's Sustainable Transport Initiative. His present work is focused on urban rail projects in India. He holds a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in transport studies and geography from the University of Oxford, UK.
