Seminar on International Rules and Practices for Secure International Trade

This seminar guided the participants through the typical trade and supply chain finance cycle, identifying the correct trade product for different stages and situations and how to apply them for best results and development impact. The seminar was case study-driven and focused on the correct application of international trade finance rules and standards, including discussion on Basel implications, supply chain finance, and initiatives on environmental safeguards in trade finance transactions.

Christian Viegelahn

Christian Viegelahn is a Senior Economist at the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Bangkok. He joined the ILO in 2011 and spent several years at ILO’s Research Department in Geneva, before moving to ILO’s Bangkok Office in 2018. His research focuses on labor economics, the future of work, international trade, global value chains, and macroeconomics. He is also member of the ILO-wide task team on COVID-19 and has been undertaking extensive research on the labor market impact of the current crisis.

John Denton

Mr. John W.H. Denton AO is the Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He is a global business leader and international advisor on policy and a legal expert on international trade and investment.
He is also a Board member of the United Nations Global Compact and Co-Chair of the Financing Growth and Infrastructure Task Force for Argentina B20 2019, as well as a founding member of the Business 20 (B20), the Australia–China CEO Roundtable and UNHCR in Australia.

Matthias Helble

Matthias' research interests include health, international trade, and development economics. He has co-edited eleven books, including with Oxford University Press. Matthias' research has appeared in flagship publications of international organizations as well as in books and scientific journals. His work includes affiliations with the World Health Organization, Asian Development Bank and Asian Development Bank Institute, World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and the UN.
