She also has nine years in the Philippine government sector on legislative and academic research, technical assistance and project coordination on social development issues (education, consumer welfare, housing, gender).

International Online Conference to Address Water-related Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) under the COVID-19 Pandemic

As the world experiences the COVID-19 crisis, water-related disasters remain as imminent now as before COVID-19. People worldwide have been affected, and thousands of people have lost their lives due to water-related disasters, which are increasingly frequent. In light of the current pandemic situation, and complications among disaster risk reduction (DRR) emergency responses and the COVID-19 health care responses exacerbate the challenges. They could magnify negative impacts in certain countries and cities.

Climate Change: The Politics of Action and Finance

Tracking and reporting financial flows is needed to help measure the effectiveness of climate actions. This also helps in building trust and accountability and to monitor trends and progress. In this presentation, Pretty Bhandari, ADB’s Director for Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, talks about political economy and climate change, climate finance architecture, and the climate action taken by ADB.

Asif Turangzai

Asif Turangzai is Associate Project Officer, Pakistan Resident Mission. He is geo-spatial engineer by background (Specialization in GIS and Remote Sensing) and working in the field of Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction & Management, and Resilient Urban & Regional. Prior to his joining as staff, he worked as consultant with Asian Development Bank (ADB) for 5 years and supported ADB to implement the disaster risk reduction output under the Flood Emergencies Reconstruction and Resilience project.

Infrastructure and Inclusive Sustainable Development in Chile

Sustainable infrastructure development in Chile is in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and involves the participation of public, private, and civil society actors. While social evaluation of projects should be complemented by disaster risk assessment, the creation of sustainable and resilient public infrastructure requires the implementation of management strategies on disaster risk reduction.
