Chin-Seung Chung

Dr. Chin-Seung Chung is the Director of the APEC Climate Center (APCC) since 2010. Prior to his position at APCC, Dr. Chung was the Dean of the Korea Development Institute (KDI) School. He worked at the Korea Development Institute as a Senior Research Fellow for 22 years since 1972. He also served as Deputy and Vice Minister at the Korean Ministry of Environment. While he was working at the Ministry, he was the Head Negotiator for the Korean Delegation for the Kyoto Protocol meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1997.

Pradeep Tharakan

Mr. Pradeep Tharakan has over 17 years of experience focused on global energy and environmental issues. Mr. Tharakan has worked for the ADB since 2010. His primary expertise is in the origination, financing, and delivery of large-scale clean energy investment programs in the public sector; the fostering of inter-governmental and public-private partnerships for effective development action; and development research.

Call for Contributions: Localizing Global Agendas

The Governance Thematic Group and the Secretariat of the Development Partners Network on Decentralisation and Local Governance (DeLoG) invite proposals for contributions at the joint learning event on “Localizing Global Agendas” (Agenda 2030, COP 21, Habitat III) which will take place on 27-29 September in Manila, Philippines. The event will focus on localizing SDGs in the Asia and Pacific region with a particular focus on SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Asia Leadership Program 2016

High-level policy makers and officials exchanged ideas with ADB counterparts at the Asia Leadership Program 2016.

The fourth annual program highlighted co-learning between Asian Development Bank staff and 23 participants, three of which are Executive-Level Policy Makers while the other 20 are Senior-Level Management officials. The program focused on the following sectors and areas:

Nessim Ahmad

Nessim Ahmad was previously the Deputy Director General of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department of the Asian Development Bank. He was also ADB’s Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to his current assignment, he managed bank-wide oversight of ADB's safeguard policy implementation, mainstreaming ADB’s environment agenda in operations, and developing ADB’s climate change adaptation programs. Before joining ADB in 1998, Mr. Ahmad was Technical Adviser (Environment) for IFAD in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
