Dr. Liesbet Steer is the Director of the Education Commission, chaired by former UK Prime Minister and UN Special Envoy for Global Education, Gordon Brown. She was the director of the Commission’s report The Learning Generation: Investing in Education for a Changing World, and now oversees the implementation of the Commission’s recommendations.

Elan Satriawan is associate professor in the Department of Economics, Universitas Gadjah Mada at Yogyakarta-Indonesia. He is also Chief of Policy Team, a think tank under National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K), Office of Vice President-Republic of Indonesia. In the past he has been Lead Evaluator in Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of TNP2K, Senior Research Fellow of Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL-MIT), Consultant for World Bank and ADB. He obtained his PhD from Michigan State University in 2009.

Soeung has served in various roles in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. Currently, he is the school principal of Kampong Cham High School—the first prototype of new generation school in Kampong Cham. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Khmer literature from the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

As vice principal, Huot oversees new generation school. He has bachelor’s degrees in education (physics) and information technology. He also holds a master’s degree in management from Norton University.

Ngor is the director of the Teacher Training Department since 2016. Prior to this, he was the head of planning and management at the National Institute of Education.  He has M.Sc. from Ichi University, Japan and a master’s degree in educational planning and management from International Institute for Educational Planning, Paris.

Pring coordinates the implementation of New Generation School Program and the Secondary Education Implement Project. Prior to joining the Department of General Secondary Education, he worked at Hun Send Ang Snoul High School in Kandal province. He holds graduate degrees in law and political science and in education management. 

Khamboly leads the development of national and sectoral education research, policies, and planning. He also serves as deputy secretary general of the general secretariat of the National Youth Development Council and as spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. He holds a PhD in global affairs from Rutgers University. 

Prior to his current role, Samsideth worked as education officer for UNESCO and as education specialist for ADB. He was also the director of the M.Ed. program and the founding dean of the Faculty of Education of the Royal University of Phnom Penh. He has provided consultancy services to OECD, GIZ, SDC, WB, ACLEDA Bank, and various education NGOs in Cambodia and Myanmar. He holds graduate degrees in comparative and international education and in education and human sciences (PhD) from Hiroshima University. 

Bin is the director of BTEC and was a vice rector at the University of Battambang for 10 years. He holds a master’s degree in economics from People Friendship University of Russia. His areas of expertise include taxation, macroeconomics, microeconomics, leadership and management in higher education, curriculum development, and learning and teaching enhancement.

Set has 20 years’ experience working in the field of education. Currently, he is the Director of Phnom Penh Teacher Education College—a government institution providing bachelor’s degree in teacher education for primary and lower secondary schools.
