Jude Kohlhase

Jude has over 20-years’ planning experience in identification, concept and design, and implementation of international multidisciplinary projects in the public and private sector. Over the last nine years Jude has worked with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and has been responsible for sovereign operations in urban development, climate resilience, energy, transportation, and housing sectors. During that period, he has served project processing and administration in the Pacific, Central West and Asia, and South Asia.

Nengshi Zheng

Nengshi Zheng is an independent consultant, a member of Hunan provincial sponge city professional committee and an expert in the municipal engineering expert pool of Changsha City, PRC. He graduated from Leibniz University Hannover, Germany, with a master’s degree in landscape and open-space planning. He has worked at the Atelier Dreiseitl (later as Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl) as water engineer and landscape architect on international interdisciplinary projects and later as branch manager of Wasser Hannover GmbH in China.

Risk-informed Urban Infrastructure Planning: Applying Climate and Disaster Risk Information

Alex Nash spoke on risk-informed planning and noted that such approaches are more about process than destination. That is, a good plan is one that adapts to new information and is “resilient” to the information being imperfect--important in the context of climate uncertainty and the multi-dimensional nature of associated risks that need to be tackled.

Alexander David Nash

Alexander Nash is a chartered chemical engineer specialized in water management and urban development. He has more than 20 years of professional experience gained in Australia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, working with utilities, multilateral financing institutions and governments on water, sanitation, and irrigation infrastructure projects. Alex is currently Project Officer for three ADB loans in Cambodia and Vietnam, which includes implementing new approaches in nature-based infrastructure, smart city initiatives, and disaster risk financing.
