The intersection of climate change and a subsistence economy pushed the most vulnerable deeper into debt. ADB’s Promoting Inclusive Financial Services for the Poor project in Mongolia used TV dramas and mobile technology to help people protect themselves through saving and financial planning. The project also leveraged people’s own stories and storytelling traditions to change their behavior.
