Scaling-up Private Sector Investment to Support Climate Change and Disaster Resilience ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

CWER’s intern Cynthia Wang presented findings of her internship project to identify potential approaches for scaling up private sector-driven adaptation and resilience investments and activities. This included a summary of existing frameworks for identifying and measuring private sector adaptation, barriers and drivers for private sector adaptation, and case studies of earlier development projects. She concluded with a discussion on prospective areas and modalities of ADB support.

To build a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific, the region needs to build thought leadership, agenda-shaping capability, and execution ability. Firms drive development through scenarios, radars, and platforms as key strategic foresight tools. This presentation proposes a reference model that was designed based on best practices from the private sector.

Knowledge Partnership Dialogue: Center of Excellence for Clean Energy

Indonesia's ambitious economic growth aspirations are dependent, among other things, on its ability to expand access to reliable and clean sources of energy, for all its citizens. The Center of Excellence on Clean Energy, to be established by Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, is envisioned to help push this agenda forward.

Pinnapa Satitpatanapan

Pin Satitpatanapan is an Investment Specialist in ADB’s Private Sector Infrastructure Finance Division. She is responsible for originating and leading infrastructure transactions in various sectors, including energy, transport, and telecommunications in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Prior to joining ADB, she worked at Calvert Impact Capital in Washington, D.C., covering risk management and impact measurement. Pin holds an MBA from Yale School of Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Thammasat University.

Shahid Tarar

Shahid Tarar brings nearly 20 years’ experience in Sales & Marketing as well as Sourcing, Strategy, Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing. He has been in the rice export business for 20 years and 14 years at the Managing Director of Galaxy Rice Mill. Galaxy is a family owned and run business with a focus on exporting Basmati rice to the European & US market. At Galaxy he has helped to build blue chip export customers in Spain, France, and UK, who service major retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury and M&S.

Steve Vincent

Steve Vincent has more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with the last 20 years being spent with Aon New Zealand and Aon Fiji.

He currently holds the position of General Manager of Aon Fiji and is responsible for overseeing the risk and insurance arrangements for Aon’s large corporate and commercial clients in Fiji.

Genevieve H. Abel

Genevieve Abel has worked with ADB for 15 years.  She spent five years in the Office of Anticorruption and Integrity, five years working with the Central and West Asia Regional Departments and she is now with ADB’s Private Sector Operations, working in transaction support.  As such, Ms. Abel helps contract and administer PSOD’s use of consultants.
