ADB's Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department and Office of Anticorruption and Integrity are promoting a balance between the hype and the future potential of these solutions versus the risks of corruption.

He is involved in initiating and leading action research related to corruption, service delivery, business ethics, economics, and climate change. Corruption is secret, complex and hidden in nature. 

It is also worth noting that research is one of the prevention and education strategies of the ACC and provides an evidence-based systemic and policy recommendation to improve systems and the way business is conducted.

Advances in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies are gaining significant attention across the development sector, but they may open new avenues for integrity risks and corruption. SDCC and OAI are promoting a balance between the hype and the future potential of these solutions versus the risks of corruption. ADB's Chief of Digital Technology for Development, Mr. Thomas Abell, presented on significant integrity risks associated with blockchains and cryptocurrencies that are often overlooked in development programs.

Training and Public Integrity Network Meeting on Preventing Corruption in Public Procurement

About 50 participants from over 20 countries learned how to prevent and detect corruption in public procurement in a two-day training program organized by ADB's Office of Anticorruption and Integrity in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and United Nations Development Programme Regional Hub in Bangkok, and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Asian Development Bank, in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Center, and in partnership with the Office of the Ombudsman in the Philippines, organized this event to discuss how corruption and non-transparency can be most effectively addressed including how anti-corruption efforts can be integrated into measures of good governance in the fight against climate change to ensure transparent, efficient, and accountable use of climate finance for effective projects and tangible results.

What is Corruption?

Corruption, defined by Transparency International as “the abuse of entrusted power for private gain,” is tackled in this presentation. The discussion also covers the different categories and forms or actions of corruption. The concept of systemic corruption is examined.

Evaluating and Monitoring Anti-Corruption Reforms and Programs - Training Workshop

The Asian Development Bank (ADB), in collaboration with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Center, and in partnership with the Government of the Philippines' Office of the Ombudsman, organized a training workshop to discuss how action against corruption and non-transparency can be most effectively maintained to ensure transparent, efficient, and accountable governance towards sustainable development.
