Dr. Alaa received M.Sc. in 1973 and Ph.D. in 1980 from the faculty of Engineering at King’s College, the University of London, in absorption refrigeration. He has been a member of the prestigious Refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps Technical Options Committee (RTOC) of the United Nations. He has been instrumental in the establishment of the first two district cooling company in Egypt. He has also been appointed as head of the committee writing the first refrigerants code and district cooling code for Egypt by the minister of Housing.

Alain Duminy is the Director of the IT Finance and User Services Division in ADB's IT Department with nearly 30 years of experience, and the last 22 years dedicated to supporting the humanitarian mission of the ADB. He is an IT professional dedicated to the renewal and transformation of IT functions and has worked in almost every IT job, spanning from infrastructure, security, risk and compliance and program management. Mr. Alan Baird is a Principal Urban Development Specialist in the Southeast Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank. Mr. Baird has over 30 years of experience in water supply, wastewater management, drainage, and flood alleviation. He has worked with water service providers in the private and public sectors in project delivery and technical advisory roles. Alan joined ADB in 2010 and currently supports ADB urban and water sector clients in Southeast Asia. Mr. Baird is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Alan Shaw, Ph.D., is President, Chief Executive Officer and CoFounder of Calysta, and a member of the Board of Directors. He joined in 2012. Dr. Shaw is a veteran biotechnology entrepreneur and chemical industry executive, with more than 25 years of experience building and leading technology companies. Before joining Calysta, he was a Founder of Codexis, and served for ten years as President, Chief Executive Officer and a director. Codexis is a developer of cost-advantaged processes for production of biobased chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

Albert is a Senior Research Fellow at the Stockholm Environment Institute's Asia Centre where he leads its Climate Change, Disasters and Development Cluster. He has over 15 years of experience working on natural resources management, sustainable livelihoods, and climate change adaptation issues in several countries in Southeast Asia. His current research interests are on the themes of resilience, risk and vulnerabilities, mobility and spatial linkages, disaster displacement, and settlement change.
Dr. Park is the chief spokesperson for ADB on economic issues. He leads the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department (ERCD), which publishes key knowledge products such as the Asian Development Outlook, Asian Economic Integration Report, Asia Bond Monitor, and Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific. Before joining ADB, Dr. Park was Chair Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Economic Policy at HKUST.

Albert Dean Atkinson is the Former Director of ADB’s Knowledge Support Division in the Department of Communications. Atkinson has been in ADB for more than 15 years, working across the knowledge, library sciences, and human resource domains.
His background and academic training are in Agriculture, Education, Psychology and Administration. Prior to ADB, worked at the International Rice Research Institute, Hewlett-Packard, General Electric Medical Systems, and several private and public schools as a teacher, principal, and superintendent.
