UNESCO has been providing support to governments of its member states in reforming their current ICT teacher training into a systematic competency-based one. As an envisaged result, teachers’ development in integrating ICT can be systematically guided, supported, assessed, monitored, and tracked at policy and institutional levels.

Despite a countless number of national-level ICT in education policy initiatives in the last decade, cases of successful integration of ICT that have led to enhancing teaching and learning in school still remain an exception than the norm. A suggested practical procedure for developing a national ICT in education master plan and the types of support UNESCO can offer are shared in this presentation.

Knowledge Sharing Program on ICT in Education

Organized in support of the education sector projects of Asian Development Bank's South Asia Department, this knowledge sharing workshop aimed to improve understanding of ICT in education programs through some case studies in the Republic of Korea focusing on key success factors and policy implications related to those programs. Participants learned from a number of key initiatives on ICT in education programs implemented in the Republic of Korea through site visits as well as interactive discussion sessions.
