Luc Verelst

Luc Verelst is an ICT/GIS specialist with more than 25 years of professional experience in the use of GIS, ICT, and Remote Sensing for Ecosystems Engineering and Asset Management. He has confirmed experience in designing irrigation Asset Management Systems in combination with irrigation modernization programs in the Philippines (ADB TA-9971) and Vietnam (ADB TA-9681) and irrigation asset inventorying in Tajikistan (Zarafshan basin, EU) and Afghanistan (Amu Darya Basin, EU) through extensive field surveys.

Operation and Maintenance Sustainability of Water Resources Infrastructure in the Case of Irrigation and Drainage in Tajikistan

Asset management was recognized as a fundamental tool for the sustainable management of infrastructure. Asset management planning identified asset stock, condition, and performance, enabling agencies to prioritize schemes in modernization programs.

Lee Baumgartner

Professor Baumgartner designs, supervises and undertakes research into various aspects of the biology and ecology of freshwater fish and systems. His interests are fish passage and fish migration, the impact of human disturbance on aquatic ecosystems, developing solutions to global challenges in water resource management and the connections between people and inland fish.

Christian Walder

Christian is excited about infrastructure financing and the application of innovative, high-level technologies for urban development projects. Before joining ADB in 2018 he worked in the private sector on projects in Central and Eastern Europe, Namibia, Egypt, and India in the various fields of urban water management: water supply, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, and plant operations.

Shakeel Khan

Shakeel has an excellent humanitarian quality. He helps others out of the way. He established high scholastic standards as a student at CSU and developed a high level of expertise in the field of water resources planning and management. 

He had his Ph.D. in Water Resources Planning and Management at Colorado State University.
