Pedro Almeida

Pedro Almeida is an Urban Development Specialist in the South Asia Urban and Water division of the Asia Development Bank since 2018. With ADB, he has worked in Bangladesh with the Dhaka Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (DWASA), in Nepal with the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage, in Sri-Lanka with the Colombo Municipal Council, and is currently working with the National Water Supply and Drainage Board also in Sri Lanka. He is also working on an urban sector project in India.

Infrastructure development could provide an important boost to COVID-19 recovery among developing Asian economies but will require financing solutions that address growing constraints on the use of public funds for projects due to the pandemic. New funding sources are particularly vital for tackling the region’s sustainable infrastructure investment gap, which is equal to 2.4% of GDP and includes financing for climate mitigation and adaptation.
