ADBI Virtual Workshop on Analyzing Infrastructure Impacts in Asia Through Big Data: Spillover and Financing

Infrastructure development could provide an important boost to COVID-19 recovery among developing Asian economies but will require financing solutions that address growing constraints on the use of public funds for projects due to the pandemic. New funding sources are particularly vital for tackling the region’s sustainable infrastructure investment gap, which is equal to 2.4% of GDP and includes financing for climate mitigation and adaptation.

Maria is an Urban Development Specialist at the Asian Development Bank with over 10 years of

experience working for the private sector, government, and development institutions on infrastructure, urban planning, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation. She has experience developing and implementing projects to mitigate urban flooding, improve water security and waste management, and enhance resilience to disaster risks and climate change. She holds a double masters’ degree in civil engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the ESTP Paris.
