Public Transportation Innovations and Adaptation Planning for Climate Change: Case Studies in Florida

This presentation examined the impact of these innovations on the industry and its customers, focusing on three distinct cases in Florida: (1) the integration of transit services and Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) in Pinellas County, (2) the implementation of ride-hailing services in downtown Tampa, and (3) the introduction of Automated Shuttle Services in Lake Nona. Similarly, in response to sea level rise and storm surges, a variety of adaptation measures have been implemented in Florida.

Since June 2017, Dr O.P. Agarwal is the country director of the World Resources Institute in India and is also the Chief Executive Officer of WRI (India). Prior to this, from 2009 to 2016, he was the World Bank’s Urban Transport Adviser located at its headquarter in in Washington DC. As part of this he has guided urban transport projects in many parts of the world, including India, China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, etc. He has travelled extensively and has a very good overview of urban transport systems across the world.
