ADB undertakes Business Opportunities Seminars (BOSs) in its members to improve the interest and ability of eligible suppliers to locate ADB business opportunities, prepare high-quality and responsive bids, and understand ADB’s procurement and anticorruption procedures. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Procurement, Portfolio and Financial Management Department (PPFD) transitioned its Business Opportunities Outreach Initiatives from in-person to virtual format.

Mel Altoveros

Mel Altoveros is a Procurement Specialist in ADB’s Procurement, Portfolio and Financial Management Department posted in the Kyrgyz Republic Resident Mission. A Canadian national, he has over 30 years of contracts and procurement management experience spanning across various industries, including energy, EPC, aerospace and defense, and the academe. Before joining ADB, he worked in several countries, including Canada, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines, in various leadership roles.

What are the Implications for Local Governments and their Inclusive Service Delivery?

Governments around the world can pursue sustainable development more effectively by embracing a whole-of-government approach in their adaptation of the institutional framework for implementation of the global sustainable development goals (SDGs). A holistic, innovative, and inclusive approach combined with participatory governance is critical for effective implementation of the SDGs at the local level.
