Fatima Javaid

Fatima Javaid is the Joint Director for Infrastructure, Housing and SME Finance Department of the State Bank of Pakistan. Joining the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in October 2005, Ms. Fatima Javaid has a central banking experience of over 16 years. She has vast experience of working in policy, regulations refinance schemes and promotion and development of SME sector and Islamic banking. She is currently working on SME policy and regulations related assignments.

The Opportunities and Challenges for Climate Mitigation Actions (NDCs and NAMAs)- The Case of Pakistan

Pakistan is a developing country, despite low emissions, it is ranked fifth when it comes to being affected by the impacts of climate change. During the period 1994-2013, the extreme climate events caused an economic loss of 4 billion USD. Pakistan having ratified Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement is working to achieve the greenhouse gas emission reduction goals set by the two. Currently, there are eight Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) that have been submitted by Pakistan of which six are still seeking support for implementation.

Sana Khan

Sana holds a Master Degree in Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems from the Middle East Technical University, North Cyprus Campus in Turkey. She is currently working as a Research Associate at National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA), a national body working towards promoting and initiating energy conservation activities in major sectors of the economy. At NEECA, she contributed in the preparation of NEECA’s National Action Plan 2020-25 and also worked on Mitigation Actions Chapter for Pakistan’s Biennial Update Report-1 (BUR-1).

WaterAid: A WASH strong COVID-19 response

In this presentation, WaterAid shared their response to COVID-19 in Asia and the Pacific, specifically in the eight countries they work in: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste. Given the changing dynamics of the pandemic, WaterAid has taken a context-specific and phased approach to support government-led action plans, depending on rate of transmission and lockdowns, and prioritizing the most marginalized groups.
