Jumpstarting Ocean Deep Tech

Tom Chi explained how deep tech could be rapidly rolled out to solve our oceans' energy, regeneration, and livelihood challenges. Deep tech thinking has been taken from the IT industry and applied to ocean regeneration disruptive tech developments.

Using his experience as a founding team member at Google X, Tom discussed the process of taking deep tech into operations such as underwater drone “robots” to plant corals.

Will Bateman

Dr. Will Bateman is the founder and CEO of CCell. He has 18+ years in marine engineering, with a PhD in extreme ocean waves from Imperial College, with extensive experience in modelling natural systems and ocean engineering for General Dynamics, RMS, and Lloyd’s Register.

Rahul Sheth

Based out of Singapore, Rahul Sheth is an Executive Director in Standard Chartered’s Capital Solutions team, housed within its Capital Markets franchise. In his role as a solutions specialist, he globally heads the green bonds product and has been responsible for leading pioneering green bond transactions for clients across the bank’s footprint including the New Development Bank, Axis Bank, TSKB, Agricultural Bank of China, NTPC, IDBI, Bank of China amongst others.
