Karthik Muralidharan

Karthik Muralidharan is the Tata Chancellor’s Professor of Economics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Born and raised in India, Prof. Muralidharan earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University (summa cum laude), an M.Phil. in economics from Cambridge University (ranked first), and a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University. His research spans development, public, and labor economics with a focus on improving the effectiveness of public spending in the social sector (education, health, and social protection programs).

Good Practice in STEM education

The first part of the session shares some best practices in STEM education as well as some of the key findings from an ADB-funded study to map the state of STEM education in four developing member countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Kyrgyz Republic, and Uzbekistan). Some recommendations to enhance the state of STEM education further are also shared.

Pankaj Mahalle

Pankaj is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at GramHeet, which aims to increases smallholder farmers’ income by providing integrated post-harvest services through a digital platform. Earlier, Pankaj served for three years in the CSR department at Tata Steel, where he worked with tribal farmers to promote and strengthen their livelihoods. Pankaj holds a master’s degree in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, with a gold medal. Pankaj is an Acumen Fellow, Social Alpha Entrepreneurs for Impact Fellow.
