Hooi Ling Tan

Hooi Ling Tan is the cofounder of Grab, Southeast Asia's leading "superapp" that offers a wide range of on-demand services, including mobility, food, package and grocery delivery services, mobile payments, and financial services to millions of Southeast Asians.

Based in Singapore, she oversees critical pillars of Grab’s operations, including corporate strategy, technology (product, design, engineering, data science and analytics), user experience, and people operations.

Meeting needs of women entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan

The presentation includes: (i) an introduction of the Azerbaijan Microfinance Association and its work towards advancing the microfinance community; (ii) an overview of the impact of microfinance on income and savings of women vis-a-vis men; (iii) interventions to bridge the gender gap in microfinance and how financial and non-financial services should be customized in order to cater to the needs of women entrepreneurs; and (iv) projects of AFMA that are supportive of women.

Telecom Infrastructure and DFS Initiatives in Pakistan

Pakistan has a vibrant telecoms sector, with over 140 million cellular phone subscribers and over 48 million broadband subscribers. It also has various digital financial services, which has garnered about $2.4 billion mobile transactions through mobile banking in 2016 to 2017. This presentation provides a brief overview of Pakistan's telecoms infrastructure as well as the range of digital financial services it offers.
