Satoru Yamadera

Satoru Yamadera is an Advisor at the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department of the Asian Development Bank. Mr. Yamadera has been serving the Secretariat of the Asian Bond Markets Initiative (ABMI) of ASEAN+3 since 2014.

He has vast experiences in capital market development, payment systems, fintech, cybersecurity, and regional financial cooperation.

Most financial systems are still dominated by banks, reflecting a lack of capacity in the region's non-banking sectors and capital markets. A non-diversified financial sector also represents a risk in terms of the inability to deal with financial shocks and periods of uncertainty. The growth and development of the insurance and pensions sector, therefore, deserves greater policy priority.
