Rand Askar

Rand Askar is a PhD candidate at the University of Minho, focusing on sustainable construction and rehabilitation. Her research emphasizes building adaptability and circular economy principles, aiming to design buildings for flexibility and durability. Her significant contributions include developing frameworks for circularity in the construction sector, enhancing resource efficiency and sustainability.

Luis Braganca

Luís Bragança, PhD, is a Civil Engineering Professor at the University of Minho, Portugal, Director of the Sustainable Built Environment program and the Energy and Sustainable Construction Lab. With expertise in Sustainability, Rational Energy Use and Building Acoustics, he contributes to standardization in Sustainable Construction. Coordinating international and national research projects, he has authored 450+ publications. Former iiSBE President (2011-2021), his work focuses on advancing sustainable technologies and practices in the built environment.

Ferhat Karaca

Dr. Karaca is an expert in civil and environmental engineering, with a focus on sustainable civil infrastructure and the built environment. He is known for his innovative research, which covers topics such as resilient infrastructure, urban services, and green technology solutions on a global scale. Dr. Karaca has collaborated with various international organizations on projects that include managing urban air pollution, designing future utility systems, and assessing sustainability.

Circular Economy in the Construction Industry (Circular Economy Webinar Series Session 26)

In the seminar, the potential of circular economy (CE) in the construction industry, known for its significant environmental footprint, was discussed. It focused on the stakeholders’ perception of costs and benefits. A machine learning model analyzed data from 382 participants from Norway, Latvia, Kazakhstan, UAE, Pakistan, Turkey, Spain, and other countries which were collected using an online survey in 2023.

Mirko Rizutto

Mirko Rizzuto is heading the governance team in the division for Workplace Management & Hospitality where he oversees the ISO Secretariat and its integrated Energy, Environment, Health and Safety Management System for ADB headquarters. Before joining ADB in January 2013, Mr. Rizzuto was in charge of facilities management at the United Nations Campus in Bonn, Germany which he joined in 1996.
