Hettige Don Karunaratne

Professor Karunaratne earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the Graduate School of International Development (GSID) of Nagoya University, Japan in 2000. He also holds MA in Economic Policy from Nagoya City University, Japan (1997), an MA in Economics from the Department of Economics from the University of Colombo (1992), and BA (with specialization in Economics) with First Class Honors from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka (1990).

Rhea works on labor economics, education, social protection, and innovation using microdata from household and firm surveys. Before joining ADB, she was with the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance where she worked on public debt and civil conflict. She received her PhD in Public Economics from the University of Munich in Germany.

Md. Saidur Rahman

Professor Mohammad Saidur Rahman holds PhD in Agricultural Economics from the Bangladesh Agricultural University in collaboration with IRRI, Philippines and Purdue University, USA. He completed MSc on Development and Resource Economics from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. His professional interest is irrigation  management, climate change and food security. He published 73 journal articles and proceedings including referred journals like Food Policy.

Youngsup Choi

Professor Youngsup Choi received his Doctor of Philosophy in economics (labor economics major) in 1996 from Korea University. During the foreign exchange crisis, Professor Choi was specially appointed as a statistics officer at the Korea National Statistical Office where he was in charge of compiling employment statistics. Professor Choi also has twenty years of working experience at national research institutes, including the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training. Due to his diligence, Professor Choi was awarded an Industrial Service Medal in 2019.
